I am a researcher and author based in Oxford and honorary research fellow at the University of Exeter. My work sits at the intersection of Middle East politics, international relations, postcolonial and settler colonial studies, and the politics of recognition. I hold a PhD in Middle East Politics from the University of Exeter, and advanced degrees in International Relations, Political Science, and Spatial Planning and Architecture from the Universities of Bristol, Uppsala, KTH Stockholm, an-Najah University, Palestine.

My second book, Recognition Politics in Settler Colonial States: Normalizing Dispossession and Elimination in Palestine(Bloomsbury/I.B. Tauris, 2025), develops an original theoretical argument about how international recognition politics functions as a mechanism of colonial reproduction rather than emancipation. My first book, The Palestinian Political Discourse: Between Exile and Occupation (Routledge, 2016), offered a critical account of Palestinian political agency and ideological transformation since 1948.

My peer-reviewed articles have appeared in Third World QuarterlyForeign Policy AnalysisEuropean SecurityTerritory, Politics, GovernanceMiddle East CritiqueCritical SociologySettler Colonial StudiesBritish Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, and Mediterranean Politics, among others. My current research examines colonial politics of hunger, conditional recognition as a technology of colonial power and the geopolitical realignment of the MENA since October 2023.

Alongside my scholarly work, I contribute regularly to public debate through media commentary and through invited lectures, podcasts, public talks, and painting.
